What we mean when we say "Build with, not for"

(Carl V. Lewis) #1

Had a couple of folks tonight ask what we meant when saying “Build with, not for.”

Would love to claim originality on that one, but it’s actually a really powerful phrase by Laurenelllen, a 2014 CfA Fellow. It’s meant to reflect the concept of building alongside the community and public servants, rather than building ‘for’ them as if we know their needs for them.
